Know The Working Of KEMET Capacitors Singapore

The basics about KEMET Capacitors Singapore is known to all. Well, a capacitor is a passive device that can store electrical charge within it. In this regard, it must be said that a capacitor comes with two types of conductive plates. One plate is for accumulating the positive charge; whereas the other plate is known to accumulate the negative charge. The plates are usually separated by an insulating material known as the dielectric.

It would be interesting to know that capacitors react differently for direct current and for alternating current. Hence understanding the working principle of the capacitors is very important, especially if it's integrated into the PCB boards at PCBA Assembly Malaysia. Without wasting time, let’s take a look into the working principle of capacitors.

Working Process

We all know that each capacitor has a certain capacitance. Well, the capacitance value gets higher based on the plate size. For instance, the capacitance value gets higher when the plates are large and the distance between the plates is small.

Now the working principle of a capacitor is different for AC and DC respectively.

In an AC voltage capacitor, the flow of current through it is allowed for an indefinite period. However, it’s not the case with DC voltage capacitors. Rather, in for current is blocked after a certain time in DC capacitors.

For KEMET Capacitors Singapore with direct current, the capacitor gets charged up through the charging current flow, till the developed voltage becomes equal to the applied voltage.  Once the voltage across the capacitor is generated, the current flow ceases. In this regard, it’s worth noting that capacitors get fully charged with positive charge in one plate; whereas in another plate, the negative charge exists.

The developed voltage across capacitors will be on hold till voltage across the capacitor is present. The moment voltage supply stops, the capacitor starts to discharge current. When the voltage drops, the accumulated charge also reduces from the plates.

Hopefully now you have a better understanding of the working process of KEMET Capacitors Singapore.
